The Progressive Student Movement is an organization of Cypriot students. It was founded in October 1974 in Athens, is ideologically close to AKEL and is active in universities in Cyprus, Greece, England, as well as other European countries where Cypriot students study. It is a sub-section of the United Democratic Youth Organization (EDON). The party, by offering accommodation to members and helping to connect students, has helped AKEL's relationship with society as a whole. In 2012, Progressive was the most dynamic axis of AKEL, garnering 40% of the student votes.
