Whoa, that was quite something...

I gotta admire Alisha's fighting spirit even though she was at a disadvantage. As for the finale, I did like how it sets up for more events in the future. Plus, we got Lunarre making an appearance as well. Sorey and Alisha got a nice little moment, glad to see that she's happy to have met him and vice versa and the squire contract thing. Season 2 should be interesting to see, can't wait for it. I want to see how far they take their adventure.

8/10.

Expected a dragon fight in the end like the game, but they changed quite alot huh?

Kittybeard (lord of malevolence) looks quite different. More monstrous. Also dezel is so nice in the anime.

I like alisha's and sorey's scene. Was great.

Arghhh, i cant wait for season 2.

Pretty good end to the first season.

The Lord of Calamity reminds me of something but I can't quite put a name on what it reminds me of.

Was really sad to see Alisha injured, Even in all her pain all she cared about was stopping the war. Such spirit.
Nice that Alisha and Sorey made a pact, Loved the scene with Alisha finally being able to see the Seraphim, Quite an emotional moment. Soundtrack was fantastic as well.

The whole final segment with Sorey becoming angry at the guy who injured Alisha felt a bit tacked on and random but it wasn't bad.

Overall, I really liked the show, Animation and fight sequences were awesome and the world lore is quite interesting, I like the characters and the story seems decent. I really wanna play the game but damn steam hasn't been cutting me any deals. The Berseria segment was amazing too.

8/10, Looking forward to the 2nd season.

Interesting that they made the Squire Pact with Alisha even more pointless in the anime.

No preview skit, worse episode of the season.

The last episode was almost painful to watch. This time, I disliked all changes that Ufotable had made.

1) Squire Pact scene was utterly pointless.
2) Final fight was totally stupid.
3) They ruined the scene with Lord of Calamity. It was nicely done in the game, but here? Meh.

Adaptation itself is very good but last episode was just awful. Plz, no more Alisha on the screen. She is retarded as heck, and she can't even compare to Rose.

I totally agree with you !

Probably one of the most disappointing ending for a season final... Sorey's battle against Heldalf was good (for the animation) but still the scene in the game was way better...

Nothing else has happened here... Alisha on the verge of death was only made for the pact ? To see an angry Sorey ? Jeez...
I was wondering why they didn't make the pact with Alisha earlier but what was the point in doing it here since she's going back to Ladylake, and Sorey and his friends are going to Rolance ?

It was better handled in the game :

The changes they made in the anime don't make any sense... I'm afraid for the second cour...

Anyway, good to see Sergei.

alright about this episode . My only thing is with the squire pact . They made sorey turn alisha into a squire to let her finally see seraphims which was nice . But this made the squire pact kinda pointless since squires are supposed to aid the shepherd in purification and now alisha and sorey will split ways since she has political stuff to deal with. The fight with the lord of calamity was of course going to be different since the circumstances are different (the war wasn't stopped in game so he used the soldiers to attack sorey instead of phantoms) , but I'm okay with it. Everything else was very good . And thanks they removed Rose's deus Ex Machina which many don't seem to mention ... 8/10

Pretty solid first season, liked it quite a lot.
Thought they skipped the scene with Sorey making Alisha a squire as it was in the beginning so it was kinda strange see it here cause Alisha is leaving (mb we'll see her again?).
Overall 8/10, waiting for the continuation.

Unless they change more stuff in S2 so that Alisha has use of her Squire Status in Ladylake. After all, the adaptation seems quite intent on giving Alisha the Main Heroine status that players expected her to have before the game was released.

I know the squire pact is not totally pointless as some pointed . It'll def be useful once alisha re-joins . But at this point of the game events , it's not very useful .

It's pointless. They could easily omit it or just have him make pact with Rose already. Yes, they will need pact with Alisha later, but they can also do it later (just before THAT event). TBH, it would even make sense. But this? No, just no.

Why does the Lord of Calamity look like Ganondorf? Oh well, I suppose that's a minor complaint for what was a fairly solid final episode in what has been a decent show. Hopefully the second cour builds on the good things this first cour has done (particularly the art) rather than falling into some of the habits that hindered this series in places.

Hm, kind of odd to make Alisha a squire right now when she's going off to do her own thing. Maybe it'll make sense later on, but for right now, idk.

I really liked that scene between Sorey and Alisha and I thought the anime was pretty good as a whole, 7/10. Looking forward to season 2.

Hmm didn't think about it in this way, but yeah I see your point ... I also like dezel already here . In game he was such an edgelord lol he'll probably be almost the same here but doesn't look he'll be over the top like in game . He decided to join sorey for his own reasons, but he looks a bit more chill in his intro here especially when he was on the cart .Still we can't know for sure since we barely saw him this season. I thought he was the most mishandled character in game, so i hope the anime will do his character better .

Definitely don´t agree with people which say, that this anime is not good. Animation is ofc top notch, but the story is good too. And Berseria episodes were really awesome too.
This Alisha moments in last episode makes me really happy. Just that end, how she leaves to the Ladylake make me sad. I will be happy if at least in the anime will be Sorey x Alisha ship, but well, I guess that will never happen.
But I must say that this anime is really good.

This episode was pretty weak... The pacing felt off and the squire pact with Alisha seemed useless. I hope Sorey loses his resonance next season, because they seem to have skipped most of the big Sorey/Mikleo development scenes already (the fight, the main parallel of Mikleo falling and Sorey catching him etc.).

However, I do love the relationhsip between Alisha and Sorey, it's a very well done portrayal of m/f friendship.

Alisha got stabbed in the back by a fucking sword. A few hours later, she's already able to stand again and in no visible pain?

I call bullshit on that.

Thankfully, it looks like we won't really see all that much of Alisha in the beginning of the second season.

Also, the last ~ two minutes were the first time they really nailed Ednas cheeky character. Took them long enough.

Yeah the game handled the Lord of Calamity encounter better imo. The pact seems useless for now since they are parting ways. Nevertheless, overall, much more solid than the game. As a final episode, it was underwhelming. I expected the fight against the Lord of Calamity to last at least until near the end of the episode and he just retire when the battle was at it best. Meh.
The pact with Alisha was cool because now she can see the Seraphs and that, but... if she has retired from Sorey's side to pursue her political goals... what was the point of the pact?

Oh, well, at least we have now in the party the swag hat Seraph, who looks like a pretty cool guy.

Now, it's time to wait for the second season. Still worried about what the fuck is ufotable do with Berseria, but only the time will tell.

7/10 for this first season. Much better than God Eater at least.

Wait. Is Alisha alive or not? That was weird. Why was she lying alone on the battlefield if she didn't die? I guess she was able to see the others because she made that pact with Sorey. Still looked like she died and Sorey was talking to her as spirit or something. But at the next day she definitely was interacting with people.

That almost made me forget the whole Lord of Calamity thing. I was really surprised by that. It would have been kinda pointless if he defeated him this soon. I mean he is a shepherd for how long now? A few weeks/months? But luckily it didn't go like this. Makes much more sense the way they chose to go.

I really want more of this >.> Maybe I'm going to get the game if they don't announce another season until the end of the year (or more like until the steam holiday sale. full price is still a bit high for this game. Even if it would be totally worth it. Of which I'm relatively certain.

Just remembered something. That middle part was kinda pointless. Does that woman with the demon hand have an important role normally? We didn't see her for the few final episodes.

Whatever Game or Anime it is, if people don't like it but it looks nice then they will act like the opposition only likes the prettiness. It is their way to delude themselves that they are better.

Zestiria itself is objectively good as far as characterization and story go. It is no masterpiece or something to write home about, but it also doesn't have any major hiccups or flaws.

Cheesy it is, but contrived it isn't. The concept is literally thousands of years old, and is present in many of old religions.
A Potential problem might be in how it is dealt with: should slashing your sword at it really solve it? Well, at least Sorey takes in the Malevolence into himself so it isn't without some consequences, but the value of that will depend on the story's end or if it affects his character development.

Non-game player here. Since i heard it was getting an anime, thought it'd be fun to do the opposite and watch it first as opposed to playing the game. But uhh I gotta say, even without Ufotable's animation, the anime is already pretty good, I gave it a 10 but that's because I give rates depending on whether I enjoy the anime or not and I definitely enjoyed this more than I thought I would.

But yea Sorey didn't fall into despair so that's a plus for me, because it would've been rather predictable if he did end up giving in to the malevolence. The scene with Alisha and Sorey and the squire pact was handled so well! Now that Alisha can see the Hyoumas, I feel like she'll be an important off-screen support character not to mention she has a great deal of authority. My only complaint is that there was no explanation as to what a squire is i.e.what he/she can/can't do and what not.

Also no skit :<

I do think Ufotable are a bit wasted making anime of very average games, I love fantasy setting but if the purpose was to make be go and buy the game the it's failed. That said It's been an enjoyable show.
